BNL AVID
BNL AVID: Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) is a system that transforms the Instruction, Systems, Leadership, and Culture of a school, ensuring college and career readiness for all AVID Elective students and improved academic outcomes for all students. By placing students in a learning setting that engages them in rigor with support, opportunities to explore future pathways, and deliberate instruction in self-management and leadership, students develop the skills and agency that will serve them for life.

-
Opportunity Knowledge: Students research opportunities, set goals, make choices that support their long-term aspirations, and successfully navigate transitions to the next level.
-
Student Agency: Students believe in themselves and act intentionally to build relationships, persist through obstacles, and activate their academic, social, emotional, and professional knowledge and skills to reach their potential.
AVID 12 Elective
This unique elective class supports students in their pursuit of applying to and succeeding in college. Course work focuses on college exploration, applications, scholarship searches/applications, financial aid, and more. Additionally, students strengthen their academic success skills in preparation for college-level work.
AVID Schoolwide
Though not every BNL student is enrolled in an AVID Elective Course, all BNL students benefit from research-based AVID instructional strategies that are specifically designed to increase student engagement, collaboration, and agency. All teachers participate in regular professional learning focused on specific AVID instructional strategies that are applicable to all content areas. Teachers implement these strategies in their classrooms to promote high and consistent expectations for all learners.
