BNL Attendance Policies
ABSENCE TO SCHOOL
- Students will receive 5 Parent Excused absences each Semester. If a student is absent, please contact the attendance hotline to excuse their absences by:

PHONE: 812-279-9756 ext. 1 and leave a message with student name, grade, and reason for absence.
5 Absences: When a student has been absent for five days, the BNL Office will conduct an Attendance Conference. Our aim is to help support families and ensure our students are connected and successful.
10 Unexcused Absences: When a student has accumulates 10 Unexcused absences, they are now habitual truant and BNL will connect with families along with make a referral to the Lawrence County Student Attendance Review Board.
18 Absences: When a student accumulates 18 total absences, they are now chronically absent. BNL will work to ensure the student and family is connected, ensuring academic success and emotional wellness support. Students may be subject to a referral to the Lawrence County Student Attendance Review Board.
TARDY to SCHOOL
It is vital that students attend school on time. The BNL school day begins at 8am. Students will be asked to sign into the office. Tardies to school will be monitored. After the fourth Tardy to School, detention will be assigned and we will conduct an Attendance Conference with families. If a student has excessive Tardies to School, BNL will refer the student to the Lawrence County Student Attendance Review Board.
TARDY to CLASS
It is important for students to make it to class on time. Students will receive warnings for their first three tardies. After this, students will accumulate lunch detention for future tardies. If a student has excessive Tardies to Class, the student will be suspended.
